Writing for the new record continues apace. We have at least three new songs that we're pretty proud of. We have not yet begun working on the remix for Terminal Doom's re-release of 'Send More Paramedics.' Everyone is presently in good health and good spirits. Zaxx thanks everyone for their well-wishes and support when he got sick a few weeks ago.

We've put the massive Flagpole article/interview/manifesto on our Press page if you're looking for it. I think it's the best interview we've ever done. I can't believe I talked for that long and didn't say anything stupid.

We played Lenny's with Torche two weeks ago, which was amazing and edifying. We finally copped to them that we'd stolen their stage lighting plan, and they said "Oh, shit, that's right, we used to do that too... Well, we don't care." Cool.

When we get a release date for the new version of 'Send More Paramedics,' we'll let you know. There may be some guys in town to see us play soon. Might be nice if we could do a house show and turn it out. Might be Very Important to make a good impression. How clear do I have to make this? Watch for the MySpace bulletin. Hint hint.

We are playing with Stinking Lizaveta at the Caledonia Lounge on the 19th of November, I believe. You need to come to this show if you're in the area. Stinking Lizaveta are amazing. Drummer Cheshire Agusta is worth the price of admission on her own. Phenomenal.

See you in the trenches.

You may have noticed that we're not playing a lot of shows in the month or two in front of us. There's a reason for this. Music Hates You is concentrating on writing new material for our next record. We made the decision to stop playing every weekend and concentrate on new material about two weeks ago, and we already have three new songs nearing completion.

I can virtually guarantee that you'll hear one or two of them this weekend if you're at the show in Wilmington, NC. I think that at least one of them (the closest one to being finished, actually) is the best thing we've ever written. So far, it has no title.

IN OTHER NEWS, and this is very exciting-

Terminal Doom, a label formed by members of Zoroaster and affiliated with Southern Lord, will be re-releasing "Send More Paramedics" before Christmas. The new release will have the two songs we have done for the Terminal Doom sampler (with Christine and Zoroaster) as well as maybe one more song. It will have national distribution, and Terminal Doom is going to pony up for some promotions and press too.

This is excellent news.

In the meantime, we have a few shows on the books, and we may divebomb a house party or two just to vet some new material on unsuspecting audiences. Be alert, be ready, have ear protection at all times.

regards,

-patrick

Making money and breaking furniture. It's a living. This past weekend was the first Devilneck Music Festival. 35 bands in three days in one club. Badass.

Couple of things to let you know about:

- Due to a last minute cancellation in Montgomery, we've been able to jump onto a bill at Head on the Door with Marsellus. Friends in the Gump: Please adjust your medications accordingly.

- Found a very cool set of photos from our AthFest show at Nuçi's Space. I wish I could embed some of them here, as they're some of my favorites ever. If anyone knows this Juls Knapp person, please have her contact us, since I think we'd like to use some of these for future album art.

The three-way split release with us, Zoroaster and Christine steams forward. It got shipped off to the manufacturer this week. Don't have any solid release date, but it's coming out on Terminal Doom, with distribution by Battle Kommand. The two songs "So Much Dirt in My Spotless Lab" and "Thanks for Nothing" are our contributions.

We are also featured on the Athfest compilation and have been once again nominated for Best Hardcore/Punk band, or somesuch, in the Flagpole Music Awards. We won last year, then it took about two weeks for us to accidently break the award statue. Fitting.

Human Rights Festival coming up this weekend. We're playing Saturday at 8:30pm. Outdoors, free. Two years ago we frightened one of the speakers so badly she left. To all speakers who might follow us: If you're speaking on behalf of Human Rights, you have nothing to fear from us. Please do not flee.

We're starting to line up recording opportunities for the new record. The songs are pretty much picked out, and we're just trying to figure out the mostest and the bestest option for getting them recorded. The album is tentatively titled "My Dirty South," or "My Dirty Southern Life."

We've beed discussing making a video documentary of a run of dates down to New Orleans in honor of that title. We have friends in the Big Easy, and what we're hearing is that reconstruction is dragging on without much progress in neighborhoods where working people live, but if you have a seven figure condo, the city is right there for you. Figures. Same shit, different drain.

Our friend and collaborator W.I.Z. has made a fantastic video for UK rapper Dizzee Rascal. Check it out here. We're hoping to find some way to involve W.I.Z. in our efforts around the next record.

We're playing multiple shows around AthFest, some well-publicizes, some off of the radar. There will be at least one house party. Back to our roots, as it were.

We will soon be featuring the merchandise of some of the bands we have been playing with on our merch page. Also, new "Motherfucking Dirt Metal" meshback hats will be up there. Stay tuned.

Yes, a new website. We wanted to be able to showcase more of the incredible photos we get from our photographer friends. You should check out their work.

We have been doing shows every weekend lately, and plan to keep on into 2007. If we haven't come to your town, look for us soon. We're coming. When we can only play two or three shows a weekend, it takes time to get to everyone. Look for upcoming Atlanta, Augusta, Montgomery shows. We're going to try and get back to Selma to avenge ourselves soon, and we're also going to try to do another show in Auburn after our triumphant show there the other night.

We are going to record in January- a song or two to release on a split single with Zoroaster. It will be on their label Terminal Doom. Release date is at this time unknown...

There's always more news to keep an eye out for. Watch the blog on our MySpace page and keep an eye on this page as well. See you in the trenches...

Pearl Harbor Day, and coincindentally, Noah's birthday. Not a bad day to start a southern tour. You may have noticed that we have been remiss in keeping this space as updated as our MySpace page. We'll be watching that a little more closely in the future.

Now that Patrick is back from his european tour drumming for the Low Lows, we have made new contacts in the UK and in Europe, so we'll be getting over there in 2007. In the meantime, we're going to be working on a split 7" with Zoroaster (that's FOUR syllables, not three) and starting work on the next MHY record.

We have loads of new photos. We are going to be discussing how best to present them over the weekend. Watch for updates to the photos page and maybe some website improvements. In the meantime, come to the bars and see the band. We have new songs, louder amps, larger drums and if we know you're coming, we might bathe.

Y'know, we never talk any more. Seems like a dog's age since we sat down and just talked... How you doin'?
So, yeah, the Lunch Paper show on Saturday night was insane. I think it's safe to say that it was a landmark show. A high water mark. "One dead in attic" kind of high water. The whole "shattered guitar" thing presents a small setback for guys with no money, but we'll auction that shit on eBay eventually.

We're going to be playing Atlantis Music Festival at the Dark Side, October 5th at 1am, after Enders Game. The Dark Side is in Marietta and the shows there are going to be all metal and punk bands. In the meantime, this week marks our return to the 40 Watt for the first time in a year or something. We're playing with The Dumps, Ground:Xero, and Lazer/Wulf. It should be a good time. Hope we can get some guitars that aren't splintered before that show....

Sometimes real life intrudes because it won't be denied:
Justin Parker, Atlanta friend and fellow Star Bar patron, was tragically injured on July 8th. He lost both of his legs. He was a construction worker and fabricator, and has a wife, two kids, and no insurance.

The Star Bar is hosting a benefit to raise money to help Justin make ends meet. We highly recommend that you attend, make contributions, get silly drunk and buy whatever they put in front of you, be it hot dog or t-shirt.

The Benefit is August 4th, starts at 5 pm, and there will be ridiculous amounts of entertainment there- Stevie T and the Tombstones, Artemis Pyledriver, the Rock City Dropouts, Selmanaires, Bitch, Das Maniacs and Brass Castle are playing. There will also be appearances by the Atlanta Roller Girls, stunts by the Swinks Brothers, a silent auction and raffle and plenty to eat, charred to a cinder by the Patio Daddy-o.

For more donation information email here, and to make paypal donations, send cash to alexis@rivalentertainment.com.

Music Hates You is getting together today to figure out what else we can do to help out. We'll see you at the Star Bar.

Lots of news to report, foremost of which is that we're getting radio attention in Atlanta:

Tonight on the Local Music Show on 105.3 The Buzz in the ATL, Aaron F. Hickman will be playing "Living Room." Homegrown Buzz starts at 8pm EST, and if you are not in Atlanta you can tune in via the intarwebs thingy by going to their website:

105.3 The Buzz

and clicking the "Listen Live" link.

If you wanted to really help the band, you could call the station and thank Aaron for playing the song, letting him know that by supporting Music Hates You, he's putting money into the Athens beer, coffee, cigarettes and auto parts economy. 404-741-1053

You can also add Aaron as a MySpace friend here:
http://www.myspace.com/aaronfuckinghickman
and keep track of goings-on in ATL/ATH music.

Tell him we sent you. The Buzz is the sort of station that makes a difference for bands, and if we crack Atlanta, baby, that's like winning the lottery. This is the first step of that.

and YOU are our secret weapon. We appreciate your support.

If you're not busy on the 27th of June-
We're going to be hitting the parking lot at the Slayer show at Lakewood Amphitheater and passing out postcards announcing 'Send More Paramedics' and giving out our various web addresses. We're printing a thousand postcards (it's all we could afford) and we're going to try to give them all away that night. An extra pair of boots on the ground would be a huge help to us right now.

In the meantime, we're playing shows and selling records. The CDs are available at the downtown record stores in Athens, through our website and from CD Baby. CD Baby sales mean less cash in our pocket directly, but they drive digital distribution (i.e- the more we sell there, the more likely you are to see us in the iTunes Music Store) so make your choice according to your conscience.

More of the 'hand-in-the-gears' shirts are coming! We sold out of the last batch almost instantly, so we're getting more, and we will have some in small and XXL, unlike last time. Also, we are making black baseball caps with that logo embroidered on them. We have not yet decided whether to have the name of the band underneath, or to just roll with the logo. Your opinion is hereby solicited.

Songs in their final, mastered form are up on the server. The album comes out on 30 May 2006. Please share these files with friends and relations.

23 may 2006 1052 hrs
Someone has begun an offical MySpace fan club for Music Hates You. Check out the kick-ass logo they came up with:

Click the link to go there and add them as a friend.
I must say, I don't know if I ever expected this to happen, but it's kind of blowing my mind. Get in touch, whomever you are. We'll be more than happy to provide any support you need...

In other news- the album is now in stores in Athens:
Schoolkids Records
264 East Clayton St.
Athens, GA 30601

Wuxtry Records
197 E. Clayton Street
Athens, Georgia 30601

We will getting the CD into more stores in the area and also into Atlanta as we can. We are also trying to set up a distribution deal ASAP. More on that as it develops.

Plans are in the works for a late-summer/early-fall tour. So... See you in the trenches.

18 may 2006 15:23 hrs
You may now buy the album. It is available through our website or from CD Baby. You can pay using credit/debit card or PayPal. Amazon and various online music store are down the road. Get on it, brothers and sisters. Dirt Metal belongs to you.

15 May 2006 17:00 hours

We have copies of the album in stock and are about to start making them available through the swag page and through various online distribution sites. We anticipate that it will be available in selected record stores nationwide, but as we await word on our distribution deal, your best bet is to get them in the mail.
Tracks are available in mp3 format so that you can preview them on the listen page and on our MySpace page. Please spread these tracks far and wide. We're on a mission and we need your help.

Speaking of which, please sign up for the email mailing list if you are interested in receiving updates and last-minute bulletins on house parties and shows.

There are rumors of the imminent arrival of UK video director and comrade W.I.Z., along with a trusted cameraman to shoot a mini-documentary on the band. There will be a house party to celebrate the hero's return. You should be there. We'll let you know when and where, provided we know how to reach you.

Fantastic, albeit truncated by law enforcement, show last night with Black Cobra at the Your Mom's House squat. Fortunately, Black Cobra was able to complete their set before the long flashlight of the law started poking around looking for a skull to crack. We played some music, no one went to jail, everyone had a good time.

4 may 2006 21:44hrs
by the way, it looks like this:

Noah previewed 'Send More Paramedics' last night for the people at the show he was promoting at Tasty World. Sounds pretty good on those big speakers, I hear. I can't wait for the CDs to get here. We're expecting the big package soon. We are debating letting a few copies out ahead of time here in Athens so we can maybe slip under the wire on a write-in vote for the Flagpole Music Awards 'Best Album' award. Technically, the album didn't come out in the right time frame. But, y'know, it's up to you guys. We're nominated for Best Punk/Hardcore Band, anyway. So vote if you're so inclined.

We have some road shows coming up- there's going to be a flurry of activity around the time that the record (officially) comes out at the end of May. Watch here for details.

19 apr 2006 1140 hrs
The label for 'Send More Paramedics' will be Permanent Underclass Music. That's going to be our label, and hopefully we'll be able to use it to bring you other bands that we love. We have decided that we can do this better ourselves than anyone else can do it for us. Pending earth-shattering and ridiculous offers, we are gonna do as much as we can on our own.

We've gotten mastered copies back from Michael Woodruff of 1100feetpersecondmusic LTD, and he made it sound even huger, which we didn't even think was possible. We are getting some great feedback from everyone who has heard the album. Thanks to everyone who has mentioned it on their weblogs and in their 'zines.

Lots of shows coming up. We are doing a lot of house parties to warm up for the big push this summer. Keep your ear to the ground, as some of them will not be announced until the last minute, because, y'know, that's how house parties go.

For those of you who know us personally, you probably know that Zaxx lost his grandfather last week. It's been tough for him, but your thoughtful emails and comments on his MySpace page have made a difference. Thanks. Some days this really does feel some massive cross between an army and a family. You guys are our Thousand Points of Blight.

10 apr 2006 19:57 hrs
Show tonight in Athens at Tasty World. Looking forward to it. Right now we're having some coffee and trying to shake work off of our bodies in preparation for ripping the lid off.

Advance copies of the record are shipping to selected journalists, bloggers and we're fishing for a distribution deal. With any luck, we'll also be able to tell you in a couple of weeks that we have been okayed to sell our stuff on various download services. We'll see. You may be stuck having to buy it here.

Of course, then we get all the money. Could be worse.

If you have a favorite music writer or blog that you read frequently, let us know. We are sending disks to the people who actually write about hard music for people who then go out and buy disks. The more you can help us spread the word, the more we can focus on getting back to your town and playing again.

Interestingly, we're getting some interesting news just about every time we play, lately- this guy got his forehead cracked open, that guy twisted his ankle. Send us photos of your injuries folks, and we'll post them here. We gotta see 'em. Show us those stitches and cracked teeth.

The record is smoking. We master it next week. Then we're going to make a couple thousand of them. We MAY (nothing's for certain, yet) make is possible to pre-order the CD from the merch page a couple of weeks before it's "officially" out.

Official release date is 30 May 2006.

See you in the trenches.

30 mar 06
Yeah, I know, long time no see. Been busy, y'unnerstand? MHY has been putting the final touches on the mix for 'Send More Paramedics, and as of one o'clock this morning, it's done. Andy Baker has been a complete champ through this whole process, and the album sounds like a million bucks. Every song has been remixed, songs we have never released are now on the record, and we are poised to take over the world.

2 feb 2006 1018 hrs
Announcing Bent Wednesdays. Looks like later this spring, the MHY family may be taking over the upstairs of the Tasty World in Athens once a week, so that we can bring you bands we believe in from all over the country. Our show with Minsk was such a success, we've been talking to the owners of the club, and they want to see what we can do with a regular night. Plans are still up in the air, and we do not have anything booked, yet, but we're talking about it. Bands we hope to bring you include The Despised, Arrhythmia, Yakuza and more.
As for the Minsk show... damn, y'all. I hope that everyone who needed stitches got 'em. Perrish, I'm looking at you but I'm talking to everyone.

::UPDATE:: Perrish responds: "Funny- not a micro-scrape until the last 20 seconds. Well worth it, tho. Red, red, everywhere- I just love that shade. Would rather have gotten it the good old fashioned way, sharing skulls, to be honest.

Once in a bloo moon, there'll be some yahoo jumpin in right at the end, throwin 'bows.. Lil' John sums that one up perfectly in that recent hip hop hit, "GIRL FIGHT"

But I loved it. Yeah, I picked up a pack of butterfly stitches at Walgreens, and they kind of kept slippin around that night, but I got em stabilized by morning. Good conversation starter at breakfast."

15 jan 2006 1135 hrs
Yeah, what you heard was true. What gets me is that there were still some folks that thought it was some part of the show... like we'd rather get in a fistfight than play music. Well, next time, don't go jumping in there like it's some kind of game, and you won't get your ass handed to you by the band. Put some ice on it and quit moaning. To quote Bob Dylan- "You will not die, it's not poison."

In the meantime, we've played three blistering shows here in Athens, and thanks to the folks that came out. It's starting to feel like a Thousand Points of Blight up in here. If we ever make any money, we may have to buy Zaxx's house just so we can play there every couple of weeks. Every party we play in that little slumbox is a three way battle between us and the police and a storm surge of flying bodies. That's how we recharge our batteries... It's a good reminder of why we do this.

In the meantime, we have some great shows coming up- Star Bar with Artimus Pyledriver on Saturday the 21st. Dave Slocumb was voted Best Frontman in the Stomp and Stammer People's Choice Awards for 2005. They're a massive band. I, for one, welcome our new Redneck Hotrod Overlords. You gotta see this show.

Additionally, we're playing a show with Minsk, a brilliant thud-and-boom metal band from outside Chicago. We set this show up just so we could bring them to Athens. Don't miss this show, either. You can see us just about any time in Athens, but Minsk comes through but once in a while, and people are going to be talking about this show for years, I think.

22 nov 2005 0944 hours

Any weekend where we end up at the Star Bar is a good weekend. Noah documents it here. We played with some great bands- The Spectremen and the Rock City Drop Outs were both excellent. We also met another band, Artimus Pyledriver, and they kick much ass. We're playing with them at the Star Bar in January and possibly in Savannah a week earlier.

You should also go and vote for the Reverend Uncle Laffo's label at the Jones Soda label site. Search for label number 0000516526.

As I said on the Star Bar's Myspace page-
"Imagine a whole shelf of those, in the lukewarm sick green light of a dilapidated drink cooler at a truck stop outside of Midnight, Mississippi... at about 4 am, when you're on the run from the law and still half drunk and cotton-mouthed from something you'd rather not talk about that happened in Starkville. Two dozen lime-pale Uncle Laffos, all leering up at you from the underwater light of that brokedick cooler in the middle of redneck shitheel nowhere."

15 nov 2005 1130hrs

two house parties on Friday night

Spreading the love like the bird flu...
We're going to be playing two parties in one night here in Athens on Friday. We are playing at 110 Burney Street 1st, at roughly ten pm, then jetting across town to the punk rock house on Atlanta Ave to play at midnight. At the first party, we're playing with 696, SUBVERSIVO, SUBALTERNS, and KILLER ROCK FROM SPACE. The 2nd party will be with The SIDS, the BLACK LIPS and THE FLOODS.

Does anyone else work this hard? No.

You know why?

Because no one else loves you like we do.

9 nov 2005 1528 hours

Back from the wars yet again. Five days on the road is just enough to make us remember why we do this. Best quote from the road: Four songs into a blistering set at Ground Zero in Spartanburg, SC, the entire bar is slackjawed. Hell has erupted on the stage, and the entire club has stopped what they were doing to watch, awestruck. Noah stops and looks up between songs, notices that he has the entire room's undivided attention and says "...And you thought we were going to suck. Joke's on you, motherfuckers."

Sweet.

Looks like we're playing in Athens on New Year's Eve. Details TBA very soon.

ALSO- 40 Watt Show on Wed 16 November, with Brown Frown and the Dumps. Our first 40 Watt show in three years and our first with the new lineup.

2 nov 05 0656 hrs

Aw, shit, man. That roaring sound is things happening so fast that we almost can't keep up. Big series of shows coming up very soon- PLUS there's a last minute addition:

WE ARE OPENING FOR RIGOR MORTIS IN SPARTANBURG, SC ON 7 NOV at GROUND ZERO

We have, at the last minute, made the decision to duck back into Andy Baker's studio and record ONE MORE SONG for the record, just because we think we oughta. See you at the shows.

24 Oct 2005

House party mayhem last Friday night. Fistfights, staggering drunks, a hundred beautiful punk rock girls and frequent visits from the Popo. (Dude, don't bitch that someone tore your Black Flag shirt in a fight, btw... That's like bitching that your pig got all muddy.) Subversivo nearly set the house on fire. One of my favorite things during our set: the punk rock photographer who would snap a few pictures, then hurl himself into the mosh, then snap a few more pictures, then back into the pit. (That must be one tough camera.)

Does anyone know how to get in touch with that guy?

November is starting to get busy. More studio, since we have decided to add a song ("Here") to the record, which will take a day. Then, lots of shows. More house parties. Secret Squirell is nailed down for the 6th. See you in the pit.

13 Oct 2005

Apparently, an Athens-Clarke County commissioner has issued a fatwa for Music Hates You. Word reached us through friends that unkind words were said by one of our the local Honky Mullahs about our little band at the end of a recent ACC Unified Government meeting. Here is the text of an email we received from a source who witnessed the tirade:

States McCarter flew off the handle at the end of the commission meeting last week about bands using curse words at the Tony Hawk thing at SE Clarke Park a few weeks ago. Apparently his daughter took the grandkids and had a fit. It was just States venting - the commissioners get to talk about whatever they want at the end of meetings, it wasn't something actually up for a vote. He may have suggested a ban, I can't remember for sure...
How Music Hates You got rolled into that, I am not sure, because we didn't even play that show, but apparently States McCarter has decided we're The Enemy. Alright, ya' old fuck. We consider the gauntlet thrown. Here's the challenge: We'll wager that we can have your grandkids buying our CD before you can have us "banned" from playing in Athens. Time, The Law, the First Amendment, cunning and fearlessness are on our side. Step into the arena, Old Man.

29 Sept 2005 1015 hrs

In the hangars polishing the jets this week in preparation for our show in Augusta tonight. Zaxx has purchased another box of speakers, which means his rig now towers above him at a height of six and a half feet.
Steven Uhles from the Augusta Chronicle wrote a very complimentary article about the band in preparation for our show. You can read it on our press page or you can read it at the Augusta Chronicle's website if you have a log-in.
People who write about music are starting to see the band and they get it. We have been favored by kind words from Gordon Lamb (which you can see above), which is no mean feat. Now other writers are taking an interest, which is v. cool. Hope to see you in Augusta if you live there.

There are rumors of a house party in Athens this coming week. More as we find out the details.

21 Sept 2005 1143 hrs

Big Augusta show with 88MPH and Three the Hard Way coming up next week (29 Sept). Talking to this personae and that personum about the new record. We may have a little help putting it out. Sorry. Can't be more specific than that.

There's an interview with digital fanzine Lokal Loudness in advance of our Augusta show. You can read it here. Athens shows are in the works, though we're learning that we'd rather play house parties when possible.

See here for details.

8 Sept 2005 1700 hrs

Caledonia Lounge on Saturday night 10 September with Babies Who Hurt People.

We are about to master the album and prepare to release it this autumn. We are having blazing practices and thunderous live shows. If you missed the Sunday night house-party-turned-practice-space-throwdown, well, ask anyone and you won't snooze next time.

We continue to destroy our eqipment bit-by-bit. Damn shame, that. Nothing to be done for it, though. Life is hard when you're Music Hates You's property. I'd hate to see what would happen if we had enough money not to have to baby our gear. I wouldn't stand too close to the stage if that happens. Not without protective eye-wear and health insurance.

24 aug 2005 1047hrs
Last minute shows:
Star Bar in Atlanta on Friday night opening for Gonzalez.
House Party in Athens on Sunday night.
19aug2005 0300hrs

Music Hates You's new album is finished. It's mixed and ready for mastering and pressing. The working title is "Send More Paramedics."

It's angry and desperate music for angry and desperate times.

20 Jul 2005 1227
We have been holed up at Andy Baker's studio working on our next full-length release. So far, so brutal. We have another day of vocals to do, then perhaps a mix day, and then we master, press and release. Dates will be made public when we know them.
Some certainties:
  • The title will be "Send More Paramedics."
  • Eight songs for $10.
  • It's lip-splitting, eye-blackening, tooth-chipping ferocious.

We will put some preview tracks up here as soon as they are available.

    27 june 2005 0941 hours

Back from Pensacola, back from the Alternative to Athfest House party. Pensacola was good. Holden Red were excellent hosts and it was their bass player's birthday. He got good and hammered. Happy birthday, Bob. Remember, drink gatorade and get some sleep.

The Alternative to Athfest party was a stone blast. Ten bands, four kegs sucked dry, a mosh pit in the mud. Who wouldn't want to be there?

The party's hosts, the band Polemic, had a permit to go until midnight. The police were there at 11:59. We were on our last song anyway, so we played until we were done. People were tumbling over each other in the mud, including members of MHY. It was our little Glastonbury. A fine time was had by all.

We have some recording coming up in a two weeks, and we are going to be preparing for that.

    14 June 05 14:13 hours

Spent the weekend at Radium Studios with Chris Bishop. The results are available on the Noises Page. The resulting mp3s are spinning off across the internet, sending white hot contrails out behind them. Go have a listen and tell us what you think.

Looks like the next gig is going to be in Pensacola with Holden Red at Sluggos (24 June). Also, in Athens, don't miss the Alternative to AthFest House Party on Sunday at the Polemic house (26 June). Beer, 10 bands and burned food are all on offer at this lovely soire.

    6 June 2005 14:35 hrs

We love a free punkrock show. Tasty World show on 3 June was not only packed, but all of the bands kicked ass. When they tell you that Athens isn't a punkrock/metal/hardcore town, spit in their eye and take their wallet. They have no idea what they're talking about.

In our immediate future- we are recording with Chris Bishop at Radium Recording this coming weekend. We plan to press the three songs we record with Chris into a free promotional CD which will also contain additional MP3 files, graphics files and a compilation of articles about the band, plus some stencils and whatever else will fit. We plan to hand distribute the CD to parking lots full of juvenile delinquents in rural Georgia and to the knots of black-clad resistance in the corners of shopping malls. We're going to put them into the hands of drunken brawlers on the steps of heaving trailers in the forgotten corners of military towns. We're going to be hunting for the shiftless, the forgotten, the hillbillies and millbillies and dead-enders because you are us and we are you.

Music Hates You is forming an army.

Be one of the Thousand Points of Blight.

    We want you.

    Are you with us?

Back from the wars, are we Colonel?
    Yes, quite.
Nothing like 13 or 14 hours of driving to put it all in perspective. Our show in Pensacola was spirited if not heavily attended. Apparently we made converts out of the gentlemen in Holden Red. We will be returning to play Pensacola with them on June 24th. We made almost a thousand miles of asphalt disappear into the rearview mirror over the weekend. It's just like old times. Blood, sweat and gasoline.

    Again, please note the following:
    40 Watt Show=DENIED

Instead we are playing the Tasty World on Friday Night (6/3) with Donkey Punch and Community Chaos. Once again, this show is UPSTAIRS.

Augusta has such a kick-ass music scene. Played The Soul Bar last night. It kicked ass. Music fans in Augusta are WAY more enthusiastic than music fans in Athens. It's the truth, like it or not. We're going to be getting back there a good bit in the future. We played with kickass local band Turtleneck.

I believe that we will be trying to do a couple of house parties there before it's all said and done. We met members of Distal and Like a Champ at the Soul Bar. Rumor is that we should do some shows with them and/or 88 Miles per Hour.

Tomorrow morning we leave for the great state of Florida. Pensacola- Sluggo's. Old stomping grounds of mine. A fine place. We can't wait.

Tasty World show was blistering and very, very short. Like inhaling ether- a rush, a tremendous roaring in the ears, and then silence.

Hope and Suicide were EXCELLENT, as was DoomSayer. Because of the crazy early-show schedule, we were on and off in less than 30 minutes. H&S crashed at Patrick's farmhouse and were gone the next morning before the sun was good and up.

The UltraOdd Compound show was blazing. The bruises are fading and no one needed stitches. (Maybe next time, sport.)

Very important shows coming up. We are playing with seering Florida band Hope and Suicide on Thursday the 19th. There is an interview with Hope and Suicide on the weblog. Here are some VERY IMPORTANT DETAILS- It's upstairs. It's AN EARLY SHOW. Don't show up when we're packing our gear and ask what time we go on. We will have to kill you and use your skull for a soup bowl. Got it?

    Thursday 12 May 2005 1145 hours

    Upcoming shows:

Athens with Hope and Suicide. 19 May, Tasty World- EARLY SHOW and UPSTAIRS.
Augusta at the Soul Bar on May 26th.
Pensacola at Sluggo's on May 28th

We're serious about coming to your town. Find out where we can play and let us know.

UltraOdd Compound show was ruling. Noah launched himself into the audience before the rest of us had even broken a decent sweat. Mad props to Brown Frown for responding with fire in the belly- meeting demand with supply immediately following our set. We love that place. We'd like to rent a room for the night with that place, if you know what we mean.
Zaxx continues to lay waste to amps. Boy needs to not be so hard on them, but who knows if THAT will ever happen.
You've seen the fliers if you live in Athens. This Tasty World show is a big deal. Hope and Suicide are fucking-a right. You need to see them. Spread the word.

    See you in the gutter.

Human Rights Festival was last weekend. The show was hell with the lid peeled back. We apparently so frightened one of the speakers that was supposed to follow us that she made a run for it. Sorry, folks. The truth is a scary beast. No offense intended.
In the meantime, we're gearing up to start hitting the road this summer. It begins in May. If there's a place to play in your town, email us and let us know. If your house isn't known for odd smells or frequent police attention, we might need a place to stay as well.
The possibility of recording still hangs tantilizingly just out of reach. We just have to raise a little money. Like the man said, "It ain't no fun waiting around to be a millionaire."

MHY unveiled the new drummer and some new material to enthusiastic crowds at Tasty World in Athens, GA and at The Head on the Door in Montgomery, AL in January. Filming the band and collaborating on a screenplay with Patrick and Noah was W.I.Z., UK music video director and creator of the videos 'The Man You Fear' and 'Fight Song' for Marilyn Manson, as well as videos for Massive Attack, Therapy?, Oasis and more. The last few nights have seen all-night writing sessions for Noah, Patrick and W.I.Z. so we're all exhausted. We put our esteemed Limey friend into a sleeper car at the train station in Atlanta tonight so that he can sleep/write/ride to NYC to find more willing victims for his unique brand of visual mayhem.

In coming weeks we will be playing at Tight Pockets, most likely, possibly with those fine citizens in Brown Frown. We are also planning on branching into Tennessee and hoping to get down to Pensacola soon.
We have t-shirts, stickers, buttons and opinions.

That's just ammunition to us, brother.

    Don't stand in the road.

Don't let that screen door slam.

the news is this web-site, the news is new t-shirts, the news is new stickers, new shows, new drummer, new weblog. Right now our news is like trying to catch bullets with tweezers before they crash through your frontal lobe.

Patrick has joined our fighting forces as punctuation expert extraordinaire. Music Hates You has never been tighter, more focused, and bludgeoning. He saws and grinds through about $200 worth of drum equipment a week, and our practice room floor looks like a fuckin lumber mill. Super drumming, super motivated, super kick in our dirt-metal asses, look out for flying debris, folk.

Dig the new site? Me too. Mouse over causes of death to find out burial information. We're gonna be busy so visit regularly or miss out. Thanks is due to Patrick and Christopher Philpot for their hard and timely work.

New t-shirt: all musicians are horrorfied of losing their fingers, so what better image to have on our shirts than a hand being mauled in gears? t-shirts available now, stickers by next week, and hoodies will be along by the end of the month.

Two up-coming dates: we're doing a couple of shows with fellow partners in grind Polemic and Victor Charlie, in Jan. See shows page for info. Visit Polemic at www.Polemicmusic.net and Victor Charlie at www.victor-charlie.com. tell 'em Large Marge sent cha'.
